Tuesday -- Students had the choice of continuing to work on the review handout from yesterday or work on Ms. Miller's task that is due tomorrow.
Wednesday -- Students reviewed each other's Ms. Miller task by reading and giving comments on #5-8. We started our Statistics and Probability unit by defining mean, median, and mode.
Thursday -- Students explored measures of central tendency with the Why California? task. See the Activity Sheet halfway down the webpage.

Visual Art ~ Newstadt
This week new 8th grade Art students will be introduced to the teacher, classroom, essential agreements, assessment criteria, and Visual Arts Process Journal. We will be setting ourselves up for success and clarifying expectations for the Trimester. Please let Ms. Newstadt know if you have any questions about the sketchbooks needed for class. firstname.lastname@example.org Thanks!
Prior students can expect to have their work and sketchbooks returned to them sometime next week. Thanks for an awesome learning experience in Visual Art!
On Thursday students worked on their organization of the VAPJ by incorporating a Table of Contents, page numbers, titles for pages, and a check off system for Ms. Newstadt. Students were then introduced to proportion and the idea of guidelines in drawing portraits of dogs! We are working on sketching and then using mixed media and text to complete a full and interesting page in Visual Arts Process Journals. There will be more studio time for completion of this page on Monday.
Welcome to the final trimester of the year! This trimester is grouped into a 3 week rotation schedule for health/fitness and PE. For the first three weeks of health/fitness, we will begin working out the first 20-30 minutes of each health class. Following our workout, we will begin reading the text, The Healing of America, which compares health care systems around the world. Participation is a large part of the fitness grade and since you only have 12 workouts per fitness section, I expect you to be principled and reflective to make sure that you are doing the best you can with each workout.
