7th Grade artists finished up their Roy Lichtenstein inspired Pop Art Self-Portraits early this week, which are on exhibit at Cafe Capri across from Sage International School of Boise through Tuesday, October 27. Please watch this informative piece on the artist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jowA-pH-Y8 for more information and interest.
Please remember that will be visiting the Boise Art Museum from 10:15am-12:15pm on Tuesday, October 20, to further explore the Elements of Art & Design. Students do not need to bring anything special with them, however they will need to remember to check with teachers of any classes missed due to the trip to make up any outstanding assignments. Thank you to Nanette Dougles, Jenifer Marcus, Jennifer Kurdy, Jaimie Maxey, and Margaret Parker for agreeing to chaperone our trip!

NGSS Standard: Analyze and interpret data to determine scale properties of objects in the Solar System
This week science students used data to generate scientific questions and create models representing the scale properties of objects in the Solar System. Students used Cheerios as a standard in order to create a scale model of the diameters of the planets. In addition, a variety of objects were used to create a model representing the distances between planets. Students also reviewed how to create a bar graph, how to write a concise caption and the criteria for scientific questions. Next week, students will put these skills into practice while completing a summative assessment. Here is a link to the assessment description. Students will be working in class on completing the assessment starting Monday. Check out the links below to continue thinking about scale.

Summative Assessment: October 22nd
This week students were able to practice concepts and skills to prepare for the assessment. There was also enrichment opportunities for students through small projects. An example of a project was looking at the consumption of soda world wide using scientific notation. Please continue to support math at home by using the tutorials I post on Weebly and Khanacademy.
