Upcoming Important Dates:
Reading Assignment #5 (Chapters 10, 11, and 12 of the book) - Due Tuesday, 6/7
Hot Seat Presentations - Wednesday, 6/8
Students finished their fourth reading assignment this week and met in their Literature Circle groups to discuss the assigned reading over Chapter Nine of the text. They also worked on their group's Hot Seat activity. (Click here for the handout they are using!) The Hot Seat presentations will be next Wednesday, June 8th in class.
Our class also moved into our final reading assignment for Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry as students work to finish reading this class text. Students' final Literature Circle meeting will be next Tuesday, June 7th. Next week, we will wrap up this final unit and prepare for one final summative project for the end of this semester and sixth grade school year.

Learning Goals: I can explain the major properties of Earth’s Interior.
I can identify risks associated with living near plate boundaries
This week students took a scaled journey through Earth’s interior in order to explore the properties of each layer. Students learned about the inner-inner core of Earth; a recent discovery. In addition, students starting working on this research project (due June 13th). Most of next week will be dedicated to students researching and synthesizing their findings.
